Pre Appointment Information

Pre Appointment
Information

Thank you for booking your appointment with Facial Line Softening.

Below is some information that we require you to read before attending your appointment with us.

Before your appointment.

If this is your first time attending the practice or you have not attended within the past year, we will require an updated medical history from you. We will ask that you please attend your appointment 5/10 minutes early to allow enough time to complete these forms in our waiting area.

We will also send another appointment reminder email from "Moira Dental Care" closer to your appointment time, and if you could please click through to the patient portal in this email and complete "Health Screening" & double check the contact details and information we have on file for you is correct in "Demographics".

This is a Covid screening questionnaire which needs to be completed before we can allow entry into the building, it is an interactive form which can be done on your mobile phone.

You do not need to complete the medical history in this section, as the Medical History we have asked you to complete is more in depth and we do not need you to do both.

We check this Covid health screening and if you fall into the yes category on any of the questions your appointment will have to be postponed. It is extremely important this section is answered honestly as you are risking not only your own health, but other patients and staff members.

We appreciate you may have completed our medical history in the past but as you can understand due to the nature of this treatment it is of high importance that we have a recent copy of this in case of any changes which could impact your appointment. This is why we will ask you to complete this form again if necessary.

Medical histories are normally completed annually.

At your appointment

1.     Arrive on time. Not early/late. Our waiting area is small and has a low capacity, if you feel more comfortable waiting outside this is no problem just check in with reception first.

2.     You will be invited to sanitise your hands on arrival. If possible, please have your make up removed prior to your appointment.

3.      If we are carrying out a treatment near your mouth you may be asked to gargle with a mouthwash prior to treatment. You would not spit out into the sink but gently expel liquid back into the cup.

The following section is Terms & Conditions to treatment which may have changed since your last visit, so please read carefully.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers do not impact risk of contracting or recovery from any viral infection. There is however evidence to suggest viral or bacterial infections can trigger immunogenic reactions in the implants which may be delayed. Should this complication arise, management may be challenging as steroids cannot be used and should lock down recur, face to face treatment such as hylase cannot be administered. The symptoms may be inconvenient, but will not be life threatening and may settle spontaneously.

Covid-19 Vaccination FAQs

It is understood that any infection, viral or bacterial, will illicit an immune response in a healthy individual. Vaccines, by their very purpose, stimulate an immune response which varies from one type of vaccine to another.

Rarely a heightened immune response can cause swelling in dermal fillers. Such a reaction is rare and usually self-limiting. The evidence related specifically to the COVID-19 vaccines, to date is very limited and does not reliably indicate a level or risk or likelihood of occurrence that would give us a clear indication of risk.

Have you had a vaccine in the last four weeks?
Patients may experience side effects from the vaccine for a few days afterwards and the immune system takes approximately three weeks to respond and settle. Waiting for a period of at least 3 weeks should enable treatment without the concurrently enhanced immune response to the vaccine.

Do you have a vaccine scheduled in the next four weeks?
It is known that dermal fillers insitu may (rarely) react with swelling and tenderness when the immune response is stimulated. It would be sensible, until we have more data, not to administer dermal fillers so near in time to a vaccine. It is best post procedural swelling is not confused or complicated by possible reactions to a vaccine.

We recommend not having dermal filler treatments within 2-3 weeks of a vaccine, and should you experience any swelling that concerns you, please do not hesitate to contact us.

It must also be recognised that reactions are not necessarily MORE likely to occur with recent dermal filler treatment, therefore, patients who have dermal fillers may experience reactions even if the treatment was administered months before.

Botulinum Toxin

There is no evidence, or pharmacological basis for any special precautions or advice regarding botulinum toxin, except that which already applies. Some known side-effects of botulinum toxin are very similar to those of a vaccine (e.g. headache, flu like symptoms, nausea), therefore avoid scheduling treatment within two weeks (before or after) of a vaccine. This time frame allows for any possible post-treatment side effects to settle either from botulinum toxin treatment or the possible side-effects of a vaccine.

Complications

Should a complication (any complication described in your consent) arise and lock down is enforced, face to face consultation will not be possible and assessment, management and support can only be provided by telephone or video call, remotely. Corrective procedures will not be possible until lockdown is released. If the risk in unacceptable to you, do not proceed with a treatment. No refunds or financial compensation can be offered for circumstances beyond our control. By booking a treatment you are accepting these risks and terms.

Should you wish to discuss any of this further prior to your appointment please feel free to contact us via email or phone.

Should you wish to see our full Facial Line Softening COVID 19 Protocol a copy can be made available to you.

We cannot allow treatment or entry into our premises without the above forms being received prior to appointment.

We hope you understand that these measures have been put in place for your health and safety. Please have patience as we work with the new normal treatment procedure.
